La pasta di mais (pasta di ceramica, porcellana fredda) è un composto che permette di realizzare oggetti simili alla porcellana e ci permette di lasciare libero sfogo alla fantasia.
La pasta di mais è molto gradevole al tatto, è adatta alla realizzazione di innumerevoli soggetti poiché è facilmente modellabile. È composta da materiali anallergici e per questo ci si possono sbizzarrire anche i bambini, è un materiale economico, dal momento che si produce in casa con ingredienti di facile reperibilità e basso costo. Inoltre se avvolta nel cellophane, si può conservare per più tempo.
La colorazione della pasta richiede solo una piccola quantità di tempera, poiché asciugandosi si riduce di volume e di conseguenza il colore si intensifica.
